New here? Here's how Commentary works.
How does the daily leaderboard work?
Every day the 10 highest-voted comments across Commentary make the leaderboard. It resets at midnight (EST), so every day is a fresh fight.
What is the Prompt of the Day?
Every day Commentary posts one prompt at the top of the feed. The first people to land in that prompt's Top 10 earn double votes for the rest of the day, so early answers have a much better shot at the leaderboard.
What happens if there's a tie?
If two comments end the day on the same score, the one that reached that score first takes the higher spot. If they got there at the same moment, they share the rank, and the spot below is skipped.
What are the Top 10 comments?
Each post surfaces its 50 best comments. New comments compete for a spot — if yours gets bumped, you'll get a notification and can climb back in.
What do the fact-check labels mean?
Comments with factual claims can be labelled ⚠️ Fact check pending, ✔️ Verified, or ✖️ Could not be verified. Use “Verify comment” on any comment to request a review.
How do comment votes work?
Tap the heart to vote a comment up. Tap the vote count next to it to see everyone who voted. Votes decide the Top 10 and the daily leaderboard.
